3-2, even Heskey scored
With the Benteke goal covered, and only a few crumbs of Villa news out there today, we thought we’d show you how Mr Emile Heskey is faring on the other side of the planet.
For some reason I just can’t bring myself to harbour any ill feelings towards Heskey. Yes I would have liked us to sign a whole host of other strikers when O’Neill did decide to bring him to Villa Park (who knows if top four might have happened), and normally I wouldn’t be too fond of a striker who only managed a 1 in 10 goals per game average for the Claret and Blue, but still, he’s just hard to hate.
He was a trier if nothing else, and while in all honesty you’d normally prefer other attributes to shine through, it was slightly amusing to see him score for his new side the Newcastle Jets. It came against Sydney FC, and in what was billed as a clash between Ivanhoe and Sydney’s star man, a certain Alessandro Del Piero, it was the ex Villa man who came out on top.
Here is the goal for you to enjoy here:
To be fair to the big man, it was quite a well taken goal, and he sure looked happy wheeling away. I have a mate who lives in Australia and he was genuinely excited by the prospect of seeing Heskey and Del Piero in action (probably more the latter) and travelled to the game. He got an exciting one by all accounts, and got to see a Heskey goal in the flesh….not too shabby.
Well done Emile, and may the good times roll for you in the land down under.
