Another day, another link

Things have been a little quiet since the Villa embarked on their US tour. That hasn’t stopped a few links from coming up though, and Sky have linked us, though somewhat tenuously, with yet another player. And once again it’s with a player who plies his trade away from the UK. Times truly are changing.

The latest name is 26 year old defensive midfielder Kafoumba Coulibaly, who currently plays for Nice in France. It’s a bit of a random one, and Sky have linked us, along with Fulham and Norwich. The player himself has spoken to Sky Sports, and here’s what he has to say:

“I have two years left on my contract,”

“I want to move somewhere else. Hopefully Nice will accept a bid for me and I can take my career to another level.

“Playing in England can be exciting for me. I would love that and another league will be welcomed.

“I want to leave on good terms here.”

Maybe we were linked with him previously (though I can’t remember any stories related to the player) but it seems a bit of a strange one. We’ve just signed a defensive midfielder in KEA, and early signs on him are very encouraging. We also have Herd who can play in the role as proven last year, and behind him we have other options like Clark (though I hope he stays at the back) and even Warnock if needs be, and he were to stay at the club.

I’m all for building a squad here, so if he comes great, I still think other positions are more of a priority though. Still the player seems to want to move on, so once again we’ll see how it plays out. Despite having not heard of him, I’m still firmly in the camp that believes Lambert can do no wrong, so if he wants him, great!

With the last game of the aforementioned tour taking place in the early hours, you’d expect things to pick up with regards to transfers. For people like me who can’t get enough of it all, it promises to be an exciting time as we see yet more new arrivals.
