Are Villa Fans getting annoyed or staying patient?

Us Villa fans are a hard group to please at the best of times, and a number of the online community, and probably those offline as well are becoming increasingly frustrated with Villa’s apparent lack of movement in the transfer window.

Envious glances are being made at clubs such as QPR, West Ham and even Sunderland, when all the while Lambert, Lerner et al are on the surface at least, not doing much. Various ‘in the knows’ have predicted that every week for the last month or so that they expect plenty of action concerning Villa, so if this isn’t reason for you all to stop believing them, I don’t know what will convince you.

This summer our moves have been made below the surface, and then seem to be wrapped up pretty quickly, bar the whole Vlaar thing which was on and off. I fully expect that moves are being made to add new faces, and as long as we see two or three new additions before the close of this window, I will be pretty happy. We need them certainly, and if we don’t add anyone, then we may face another tough season.

It is funny to look at some of the other transfer dealings. A few years ago we were almost QPR-esque with our moves in and out, but as we found out, and as they will, this kind of transfer policy is nigh on unsustainable. Still doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mind players like Dawson and Carvalho at the club, but you can see it all blowing up at the Hoops.

I’ve even found myself slightly jealous of what West Ham and Stoke are doing. Even though we were burned with the loaning of a Tottenham midfielder last summer, I still really rate Huddlestone as a player, and there is no question we need another body in the middle. Jarvis is another one I like, but at near £10 million, perhaps we have to acknowledge that that kind of fee is out of our price range at the moment.

More and more Villans are getting annoyed, but personally speaking I’m going to pass judgement until the end of this month. Lerner was at West Ham, and you’d hope he’d recognise the need for some new faces. Lambert was reportedly at the Wolves game yesterday, so hopefully he’s close to bringing in a new player or two.

It is tough, but I still believe that new faces are incoming. As is the norm in this day and age though, we all want things to happen now, for patience and football fans rarely mix well.
