Loved that press conference

It wasn’t particularly flashy, it didn’t have the pure excitement and madness associated with O’Neill’s arrival, he didn’t say anything really unexpected, but boy did I love that Paul Lambert press conference.

The fact that we actually wanted this manager helped, and after last years disaster of a press conference, there was a decidedly different feel to this one. Paul Faulkner was almost beaming he looked so happy, and few can blame him after bringing Lambert to Villa Park. It’s great that it appears that we have some money to spend, and it seems that Lambert already has a good idea of who he wants to join him at Villa Park. He was asked about Holt, and while he didn’t say too much about him, it’s since emerged that there is no deal in place stopping Lambert from going back and raiding the Canaries.

Looking at his previous track record in the transfer market, he’s made a number of very astute buys, and that will prove very welcome after all the money we’ve wasted previously. I hope he’ll continue to bring very hungry players in, and it will be so welcome to see a Villa team working hard to a man.

Just looking at him and he just gave the air of a man who is here for business, and looked focused and determined to be a success here. I’m certainly no expert in body language, but that’s what I got from him. He also looked and sounded like he’s not going to take any messing around, and this I love. Some of this squad needs sorting out, we all know that, and I think he’s going to do what’s needed. No sentiment, no favouritism, just doing what he has to do. He also looks like you wouldn’t mess with him, and boy is that also welcome.

It’s just nice overall to be positive about our club and our manager again. The general feeling across the internet has been extremely favourable, and while fans couldn’t wait for last season to end, many now can’t wait for the new season to start.

What a difference.
