Video of Benteke’s second goal in two games!
The boy can’t stop scoring (for his international side at least!), and as far as international breaks go, this has been a particularly good one for Christian Benteke.
Here is his latest effort, (I will check regularly again to make sure it stays live) and it was another cracking header:
That’s two good headers in two games, and hopefully it might influence the way Paul Lambert looks to supply him. Granted Belgium have some outstanding players, and they will create more opportunities than we would anyway. Still it shows that if we get the ball in the box (conveniently ignoring that Tottenham miss!), he has the ability and presence to cause a lot of problems.
Sadly width is not one of our strong points, and Lambert likes to play quite narrow anyway. This highlights what he can do though, and as mentioned on Friday, it’s always nice to see a Villan score, whatever the occasion. It will be really interesting to see who Lambert goes with in our next game against Fulham. Benteke will be full of confidence after these two games, and Bent and Gabby offer different qualities.
I’d like to see them all unleashed one game, because even though I’m not normally a fan of Gabby on the wing, he can cause a lot of problems, and is surprisingly adept at getting a good ball into the box.
Anyway back to Benteke, and well done again on another goal. Apparently he got a standing ovation as he left the pitch, and he also hit the bar earlier on in the game. He’s more than holding his own in that star studded side, and hopefully he brings back his goalscoring form to Villa Park.

Aston Villa News 24/7
It’s the same story all over the team. We are still trying to work out a way to be effective. We have players with pace, players with power, technical players, poachers – you name it. But getting them all to fit together will take time.
I’m really excited about the potential of Benteke. Once we work out how best to use him in our team, i’m sure he will be a great player for us. It says a lot that Benteke starts in a Belgium side now absolutely packed with talent. We should have more faith in him.
Good post and points mate. I think that’s why there isn’t the mass panic there would normally be with a start like this, you can see that we’re still trying to work things out. That’s why for once I didn’t mind the international break, for it be good for Lambert to have a decent period with the team.
As for Benteke you’re bang on. Any one who can start for that team must be doing something right. Get him balls into the box on a consistent basis, and I’d fancy he’d score a fair few.
