Villa currently on the longest winless streak in Europe
Well in the top 5 leagues anyway. Some more Villa statistics for you, and unlike some of the others which have been largely positive, this one speaks to a real need that quite simply, we need to start winning some football games!
‘Spanning over to last season, Villa are currently on the longest winless streak in Europe’s top 5 leagues (13)’
It’s amazing to think it’s been that long, and it is about time we corrected that. There are few finer things than Villa winning, and as I’ve written previously it feels like we might just do it this weekend against the Swans. I’m rarely positive going into a game, which I guess is the norm for a Villa fan, but it just feels like everything is set up for a win. Home game where the fans will be up for it, some new signings, a feel-good factor after the good point at Newcastle, a injury crisis for the opposition etc etc. Now this new found optimism may backfire horrendously, and teach me not to be positive about the club again, but I don’t know what it is, I can really see us winning tomorrow.
Back to that awful stat we started with at the beginning of the post, and we find ourselves in the number one position for top/worst ten (however you want to look at it) winless teams. We’re a full three games ahead of Palermo in second, with Sunderland (have that MON lovers) and Stoke rounding out the top four. Our actual loss percentage isn’t as bad as some of the others on the list, given our penchant for drawing games, but still a win would be most welcome.
In our post a couple of days ago, you could sense that a number of you lovely people shared our optimism for this weekend, so any thoughts, comments etc on how you think we’ll do, might set up would be welcome.
Still not sure on what the starting eleven might be, as mentioned it’s nice to have some competition for places. Changed my mind a few times already, so maybe it’s best to leave it to Lambert!
UTV.

Aston Villa News 24/7
Pretty much a third of a season without a win. I suppose once we win a couple then this run will be out of mind.
It’s crazy mate when you put it like that! Yeah hopefully, seems like an age.
As long as Lambert is in charge I have faith guys. The performance against Newcastle was one of the best I have seen in a LONG time, performances like that bode well for the future. Keep the faith!
